Guided Tour– Join a Certified Interpretive Guide instructor on a half-day outing in the White River National Forest. Guests don’t need snowshoe experience, just a sense of wonder and enthusiasm for spending time in the winter environment! Hike and discuss local ecology while spending time among snow-capped peaks and silent winter forests. Ages 14+ $50/person, equipment & transportation provided. Visit the website to register.

Snowshoe Tour– Travel by snowshoes on an educational tour through the forests atop Vail Mountain. Learn about winter ecology & animal adaptations as you gaze at majestic alpine views. Please come prepared to spend an hour outside in the winter environment with snow pants, warm hats, gloves and sturdy boots. Snowshoes are provided. Ages 10+ FREE. Daily | 2:00 pm-3:00 pm. Science Center– Visit the free exhibit hall at Walking Mountains Science Center to explore your curious nature. Learn about our local wildlife, watershed, and environment through interactive exhibits or ask a Naturalist all your burning nature questions. Hands-on, rotating demonstrations and beautiful outdoor trails will entertain any age, any interest, any time of year! All ages, donations accepted. Naturalist Tour– Join a Walking Mountains Naturalist for a gentle, educational hike through aspen forests and streamside communities. Learn about the ecology and animal adaptations of this mountain environment. Walks will be conducted on snowshoes as necessary depending on snow levels. Please wear proper footwear and clothing for the outdoors in winter. Snowshoes provided. All ages, FREE. Monday – Saturday | 2pm-3pm. All events and times subject to change. Tour– Meet the amazing natural characters of Vail Mountain that become more perceptible after the skiers leave. Walking Mountains Science Center

Walking Mountains Science Center provides fun & interactive programs to help you explore your own curious nature. At Walking Mountains, visitors of all ages can explore interactive exhibits or take a nature walk (daily 2pm) with knowledgeable Naturalists to learn more about our spectacular mountain surroundings. They also offer summer science camps, early childhood programs and adult programs like backcountry hikes and field seminars when you want a break from the kids.
