Hiking- The Upper Piney River Ranch/Piney Falls trail (6 miles round trip) captures open fields of wildflowers, majestic stands of aspens, cool shady pines and craggy rocky formations all while overlooking Piney Lake with towering Mt. Powell in the distance. The area is home to abundant wildlife like moose, bear, deer, eagles, foxes and loads of trout.  This hike is for every level of hiker and is only 12 miles north of Vail, with a backcountry feel that allows you to feel like you’re a world away!

Horseback Riding- Eagle’s Nest Wilderness offers some of the most scenic horseback riding trails in the Rocky Mountains! Before you begin your ride, experienced wranglers will assess your riding skills and match you with the perfect horse. Along the way, they will coach and train you, point out wildlife, and ensure your experience is safe and relaxing. Join us for a one or two hour ride. Reservations are a must.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding- Piney River Ranch offers guests the opportunity to explore Piney Lake in a canoe or SUP, starting at $30 per hour. This includes paddles, life vests, and basic instruction. Rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that disruptions in Piney Lake activity may be experienced due to wedding ceremonies and other large events. Pets are not allowed in the canoes, SUPs or kayaks so please plan accordingly.

Fishing- The renowned Piney Lake is a 60-acre high alpine lake nestled below the majestic Gore Range and known as the most scenic setting in the Vail Valley. The majority of the lake is set aside for private fishing to ensure a quality experience for our guests.  Spin rods and canoes are available to rent. All ages welcome! Fishing Licenses are required as this is a private lake. You can pick one up from Walmart, Safeway, Vail or online ahead of time as we do not have Wi-Fi available at the ranch.

Wedding Venues- Beneath the Gore Range, one of Colorado’s most beautiful mountain vistas, we can accommodate up to 200 people in our wedding and event space. With two custom log pavilions, and a ceremony deck that boasts mountain views guaranteed to take your breath away, it’s no wonder couples from all over the country come here to say “I do.” The ranch is complete with six guest cabins, three glamping tents and an on-site restaurant and bar as the perfect place to entertain your guests.

Dining- 9350′ Bar & Grill is open daily from 11am to 4pm to the general public- no reservations necessary. Our Lodge Restaurant & Bar features some of Vail’s finest barbecue fare. We offer a full-service menu including meats freshly smoked on premises, along with salads and side dishes made daily. Pull up a chair in the lodge dining area or have a seat at the outdoor patio tables. Here, you will enjoy your meal with an unobstructed view of beautiful Piney Lake and the Gore Range.
